My Credentials
Hi, I’m Chong Shipei — a Singaporean native Chinese speaker with a deep love for stories, Chinese culture, and lifelong learning. My journey as a Christian began in 2000 during my junior college years, and that encounter with God continues to shape how I live, teach, and connect with others today.
With a degree in Social Work and an advanced diploma in Kindergarten Teaching, I’ve always felt called to serve — especially children and the underprivileged. My strong foundation in the Chinese language, including a distinction (A1) in ‘O’ Level Chinese, has inspired me to make Chinese learning engaging, meaningful, and accessible for everyone.
Through my platform, HowToStudyChinese.xyz, I create lessons and stories designed to help learners enjoy the process of mastering Chinese. Many of these resources are free, and even for content that requires credits, I’ve made it possible for learners to earn them through active participation — because I believe that financial limitations should never be a barrier to education. My experience as a kindergarten teacher has given me a deep understanding of how challenging language acquisition can be, especially for learners with limited exposure. At the same time, my work in social services has helped me empathize with those who may struggle to afford quality education. These experiences shape the way I teach — with patience, clarity, and compassion.
I am committed to building a comprehensive learning journey for you — from Hanyu Pinyin and vocabulary to grammar, stroke order, idioms, and reading skills. My goal is not just to teach Chinese, but to help you fall in love with the language.
I currently live in Singapore with my parents and younger brother. Through my Chinese readers and lessons, I hope to spark curiosity, deepen cultural appreciation, and open doors to new opportunities.
