Reading

You may begin to realize that spending time memorizing word lists in order to build up your Chinese vocabulary is not an effective way. Maybe in the past, you learned in this manner, but it is time to change. It is not fruitful to learn Chinese by memorizing each word, its meaning, its pinyin using methods such as flashcards, videos and even social media posts.

Use reading and stories to help you master your Chinese.  Through reading, you will learn and acquire new words and you will know how to use these words in their context.  These words will eventually make their way into your real-life conversations, improving your Chinese fluency.

Reading a story is a more exciting activity than memorizing word lists. You follow the characters and the plot, and this makes it easier to learn and remember words. I encourage you to read the story aloud, because by doing so, you are telling the story to yourself.  This activity will build up your confidence to speak Chinese.

Readers are divided into three categories: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

Except for The Story of Jesus, all the other readers are locked behind a paywall. You need to pay some credits before you can read them. For more information about credits, click here!
